Korean Skincare is a hot topic within the skincare industry in general. This has been the case for the last 4 years with consumers jumping at the chance to buy K Beauty Products.
But today we will be discussing whether they have been doing this for the right reason, or if it’s because they have been following ‘Get Glass Skin Quick’ Fixes on social media.

Korean Beauty has been the home of many well-deserved social media campaigns claiming they have arguably the most sought-after beauty secrets when it comes to your skin and achieving the glass skin effect.
I would go as far as saying, at least once or twice, every girl has googled the phase ‘How to get glass skin” The term has been super-duper viral for good reason, but the dangers of that have also led to a spike for many dupes of Korean brands flooding the market with cheaper, less effective skincare products that do not do what they claim.
For many women based in the US, and even the UK, having a Korean skincare routine has very much indeed saved their skin, with miracle ingredients such as Snail Mucin, collagen, Ginseng, Rice Extract, Hyaluronic Acid all being god sends for hundreds of thousands of women inside and outside of Korea.

I gave you nuggets of Korean Skincare gold in my latest article telling all the skincare benefits of Snail Mucin and why every single ‘Glass Skin Girlie’ wanna be, myself included, should actually educate themselves on it, and when the times right invest in a bottle of that magical snail juice serum.
Check it Out HERE.

The problem is, ”K Beauty” and ”Korean Skincare” Specifically is being massively rebranded by other brands that are just not using the OG ingredients, and instead are using the term Korean Skincare to push their own to emulsify and dilute the natural botanical ingredients that will actually do wonders for us, and instead sell us cheaper ingredients at an – And I say this very loosely – ‘Premium price’.
That’s the issue that I have.

90% of ”Korean Beauty” And ”Korean Skincare” Is just fancy packaging with a logo on a box in that native text, and, unfortunately, without doing the necessary due diligence, you guys are falling for it religiously and making these rookie skincare brands rich, whilst still suffering with the same skin problems that you originally suffered with.
Idiotic?
Well, no. Your not educating yourself on which pure ingredients you need on your skin.
These articles are here to help you – And change that.

That is also the saddest part of all of this.
Korean Skincare IS a miracle staple name in the market and for good reason. Their ingredients are second to none. But you need to be very careful about the origin of the brand that you are purchasing from.
Are they a cheap, ticktock brand that is shipping white-labelled products?
Or are they an internationally reputable and sought-after premium skincare brand that has used dermatological testing (This is a fancy way of saying have actual skincare labs testing their products).

Korean Beauty, and Korean Skincare in general is not overly hyped, because they are simply not being adequately represented. The likelihood of brands using the most organic ingredients, such as ginseng, which is actually such a good ingredient for the doom-and-gloom word we all dread ‘Anti-Aging’.
Even for a skincare expert as straight-talking and cynical as me when it comes to analyzing ingredients, I can vouch that it holds properties which firms the skin, plumps fine lines, and restores elasticity.
My sister used this exact Ginseng and Snail Mucin Serum from an actual credible Korean Skincare Brand called Beauty Of Joseon. It is linked if you trust my no nonsense guidance enough to actually invest in the good stuff.
Back to the story..

She suffered for years from sun burnt and hyperpigmentation from the age of 15, but things became considerably worse as she entered her early 20s and entered the corporate working world.
She’d tell me that she felt insecure about her skin and that’s when we both did research (and spent a hell of a lot of dosh) on testing, buying and trialing products that might potentially help her skin become brighter, and ultimately make a smile reappear on her face.

Ginseng has claimed to have brightening properties that reduce the melanin production to fade dark spots, and this actually helped her leaps and bounds. The point I make is that many of us scramble around social media following the hype: 10-step routines, the fast-fix glass skin phenomenon, and viral TikTok trends.
But the real verdict is what I have evidenced above, in a real-life case study example that has been evidenced to be effective on problematic skin types because of ingredient efficacy, science-backed formulas, and affordability, versus Western brands that just want a claim to fame, and to pocket pinch from your savings.
My last plea to my glasskingirlies in today’s blog is to really invest your time into researching what ingredients will help your specific skin type, and then invest your money into 1 product to test if it works.
I am not your generic skincare blogger that will recommend you thousands of products.

I am very much more detailed and research based in my approach and recommendations. I like to test them myself, compare bulk market reviews, read focus group feedback for brands, before I even suggest a serum, cream, spray, or anything ‘Korean’ Of that sort.
Glassskingirlies, Korean beauty, Korean Skincare, Glass Skin, they’re all a very credible and sought-after part of the market.
But be very careful about what you’re putting onto your skin.
Is the ingredients Korean? Are they manufactured, formulated or even founded in Korea?

Once you start to see skincare through the back lense of the binoculars like im teaching you, you will take a much more beneficial approach to finding what is good for skin, and what is ‘Real Korean Skincare’.
